About VECT
Vikash Educational Charitable Trust (VECT) was established in 1993 by Sri Subhas Chandra Choudhury, the former Chief Commissioner of Customs and Central Excise in the Indian Revenue Service, along with a group of his professional colleagues.
VECT’s mission is to support bright and needy students, aiming to bring about a transformational change in the quality of life for underprivileged families and communities.
Based in Odisha, VECT operates in a region where 57% of the population lives below the poverty line—more than double the national average of 26.1%.
The day-to-day operations of VECT are managed by directors, all of whom are senior retired government officers, under the supervision of Mr. Choudhury.
VECT is further supported by nearly 20 volunteers across Odisha, who are active professionals in various fields, typically related to social infrastructure. Additionally, VECT employs four salaried staff members to ensure the smooth running of its programs.
