Name: Anita Ghale
College Study Stream: Law, Year 12
Background: Her mother, a resident of the Dhading district, has been paralysed and confined to her bed for many years. Her father, who works as a labourer, he faces significant challenges in providing for the family with his limited income. Anita has lived with very little for the majority of her life and was rejected from both schools and colleges alike in her district.
Until coming into contact with a member of the Heartland College for Women team.
Post-Graduation Plan: She intends to pursue a career in law and eventually set up her own practice in Kathmandu or metropolitan Dhading.
Impact of HCW: Anjali feels incredibly lucky to be part of this college community. It’s a dream come true! She loves her teachers’ positive outlook and engaging teaching style. Name: Anjali Yadav
Field of Study: Health Science, Year 12
Background:
Anjali, from Jhapa district, faced severe poverty and abuse from age five through her early teens. Her life changed after receiving support from Rakshya Nepal in partnership with CLCR Australia.
Post-Graduation Plan:
Anjali plans to specialize in yoga and further enhance her skills by enrolling in barista and bakery courses. Her ultimate goal is to open her own business.
Impact of HCW:
Before joining Heartland College for Women, Anjali struggled socially and academically at two other schools. She often felt isolated, unable to connect with peers or adapt to teaching styles in male-dominated environments.
Heartland provided a supportive and empowering space where Anjali thrived.
She made friends, received encouragement from inclusive teachers, and accessed counselling and healthcare services. Excelling in sports, she even won first place during HCW’s sports week. The all-girls environment has boosted her confidence, allowing her to actively participate and perform better academically.

Name: Deepika Karki
Field of Study: Grade 12 Management
Ambition: IT Expert
Background:
Deepika, from Makwanpur, has faced significant challenges since childhood. Her father abandoned the family when she was two, unhappy about having a daughter. His anger often turned into abuse, affecting both Deepika and her mother. To escape this toxic environment, her mother moved away, despite struggling with illness and financial hardship, determined to secure a better future for her daughter.
Impact of Heartland Academy:
Deepika’s mother found hope in Heartland Academy, which offered her a full scholarship and a supportive environment. The school not only provided education but also emotional support when Deepika struggled with the trauma of her past. Starting in grade 4, Heartland’s counselling services helped her heal and move forward. Teachers regularly checked in, offering assistance whenever needed, fostering a sense of belonging and stability.
Heartland has been a pillar of support throughout Deepika’s education, from grade 1 to grade 10, and now in grade 12. Its dedication has encouraged her to overcome obstacles and focus on her goal of becoming an IT expert.

Name: Ronak
Field of Study: Grade 12, Computer Science Aspirant
Background:
Ronak comes from a middle-class family originally from Ward No. 4, Thaha Municipality, Makawanpur. He now lives in Kathmandu with his mother, sister and maternal grandparents. Despite his admiration for his parents, his life was profoundly affected by their divorce. His father worked abroad while his mother balanced her job and family responsibilities, leaving Ronak to navigate much of his childhood alone.
Initially, Ronak dreamt of becoming a scientist, but over time, his passion shifted to computer science. This field has become his primary focus and lifelong aspiration. He also has a deep interest in poetry, sketching and motivational speaking. He hopes to inspire others to follow their dreams and lead the next generation toward greatness.
Impact of Heartland Academy:
Heartland Academy became a transformative chapter in Ronak’s life after his parents’ divorce. With a scholarship easing his family’s financial burden, Ronak gained access to quality education and an uplifting community. Initially an introvert, he found supportive teachers and classmates who encouraged him to step out of his shell. Presentations, assignments, and social interactions at Heartland helped him grow into a confident and well-rounded individual.
