The LBW Trust (Learning for a Better World) believes education is the pathway to a better future.
Wyalkatchem Public Library (WA) with a community of 400 will use its funding to purchase a data projector and cabling for children’s and community events held in the Wyalkatchem Community Resource Centre and Library.
Other projects include Back to Nature programs at Murray Library in WA, and Hindmarsh Shire Libraries (VIC) offering resources and activities to support children and young people who are neurodivergent and/or on the autism spectrum.
Henty Library
The money will be spent on purchasing technology items to entice young people into the library. Technology items will include an Oculus VR ($600). Money will also be used to run a program called Mario Kart Tournament and games during the school holidays, including lunch for the children ($200). Additionally, the purchase of a Mario Party Pack ($70) and Duplo Blocks for young children ($300) is planned.
Cunnamulla Library
Tammy Hickey from Cunnamulla Library shared, “We like to run annual robotics workshops, and this has only been made possible due to previous funding from FOLA NBYS grants. Council towards the funding we would receive to have a facilitator come out and provide a series of workshops over 3 days, for our community school children. These are the only robotics workshops they have access to. Without the funding, the workshops wouldn’t be possible.”
